The Harrell Brothers live at Martin’s Downtown
February 16 | 10 pm | Presented by Rybolt Productions
Hailing from Buzzard Roost, Mississippi, the Harrell brothers – Kane & Kody – caught the musical bug at an early age. Growing up at music festivals and having the classic rock radio blasting from their parents’ stereo, it makes sense that a guitar was never far out of reach for either of them.
As they grew up, the two followed separate musical courses. Kane spent years in Florida & Wisconsin. No matter where, he always found a way into the local music scene, but kept strong Mississippi influences such as Junior Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside, and Otha Turner. Kody, on the other hand, stayed closer to home, allowing himself to deep dive into the musical traditions of the North Mississippi Hill Country. Over the years, Kane and Kody have played with luminaries in the scene like Kenny Brown, Eric Deaton, RL Boyce, and the Dickinson brothers of the North Mississippi Allstars.
With years of related but separate musical experiences to draw from, the brothers united in 2021 and, together in their performance, pay homage to the Hill Country Blues torchbearers who came before. Alongside their duo/trio act, The Harrell Brothers also perform as part of Proud Hound, a blues-rock quartet based out of Como, Mississippi.
