Rare Seed : Following in the footsteps of the “Cultural Cannibalism” espoused in Brazil during the 1960s Tropicália movement, Rare Seed adopts aspects of artists such as Ween, Thee oh Sees, Caetano Veloso, Deerhunter, and even Haruki Murakami, to find and form a unique voice. Themes of discontent, change and the natural and unnatural worlds all wash over the listener during the course of the album’s ten tracks. Surreal and whimsical at times, psychedelic and heavy at others, Blue Basin maintains a conscious and deliberate ebb and flow through its showcasing of biting guitars, dripping synths and pounding rhythms ..
