Other Information
The International Museum of Muslim Cultures (IMMC) presents The Power of Our Stories on Saturday, April 16, from 2 – 3pm.
Salma Hasan Ali, a storyteller, author, consultant, and nonprofit leader, will talk about the power of our personal stories and why it’s so important to share stories to form deeper connections with each other. What started as a family blog during the month of Ramadan eleven years ago turned into an international storytelling platform that connects people around values we all share in common – doing good, expressing gratitude, learning from the wisdom of our elders.
Salma is launching her “30 Days Journal,” a place where we can all capture our own personal stories around gratitude, traditions, wisdoms, good deeds, inspiration, and reflection. Salma will talk about the importance of sharing stories, and will also share storytelling tips to help us get started. How can we start a storytelling practice in our own family – and what are the benefits? How can we build a deeper connection with friends and strangers through stories? Join us for an inspiring conversation about the power of our stories and practical tips on how to capture our own.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
