FREE ADMISSION DAY: On Monday, January 18, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., admission to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and the Museum of Mississippi History will be free in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day sponsored by FedEx Corporation. Admission will also include the special exhibit Mississippi Distilled: Prohibition, Piety, & Politics. Face masks and social distancing are required.

MLK NIGHT OF CULTURE: I AM A MAN: Join us on Monday, January 18, at 6 p.m. for a virtual Night of Culture event in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This year’s theme honors the men of the 1968 Memphis Sanitation Strike who marched down Beale Street with protest signs that read “I Am a Man” demanding change against unfair labor practices and to be treated with dignity. THE DEBATE FOR DEMOCRACY: On Tuesday, January 19, at 6 p.m., New Stage Theatre will present a virtual showing of The Debate for Democracy, written and directed by Sharon Miles.
