On Saturday, May 7, the Mississippi Department of Archives & History will host the first ever Mississippi Makers Fest on the Entergy Plaza at the Two Mississippi Museums! The event will feature Mississippi artisans and arts festival, all-day live music, make-and-take activities, food trucks, and more!
Musical lineup includes North Mississippi Allstars, Mr. Sipp, Framing the Red, Chapel Hart, Chad Wesley Band, 5th Child, Jimbo Mathus, Cary Hudson, Action, and others. In addition to musical entertainment, Mississippi artisans and makers will sell their one-of-a-kind handmade items. Vendors featured at this year’s festival include artisans such as Karl Compton, the owner of Dragonflight Pottery; Lee Washington, metal sculptor; Jamie Ross, chainsaw artist; and Tony Davenport, a Mississippi landmark painter. For our aspiring artisans, a mini-makers interactive experience will feature face painting, button making, shirt designing, and much more!
In celebration of all things Mississippi, the Mississippi Makers Fest will coincide with the grand opening of the Two Mississippi Museums’ special exhibit, The World of Marty Stuart. This exhibition will tell the story of Mississippi native Marty Stuart and showcase hundreds of country music artifacts from his extensive collection.
The Mississippi Makers Festival and The World of Marty Stuart exhibition opening will be free and open to the public on May 7, 2022. Free parking will also be available at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds. For more information visit msmakersfest.mdah.ms.gov.
