Join the Mississippi Department of Archives & History on site at the Two Mississippi Museums at noon on Wednesday, June 8, for History is Lunch (or watch the livestream) when Scott Barretta and Bobby Whalen will present “Folklife and the Civil Rights Movement.” The pair are part of the Mississippi Arts Commission’s online exhibit Folklife and the Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi, which features twelve essays on a range of topics that includes family lore, protestways, folk art, music, quilting, reunions, and communal gatherings.
History Is Lunch is sponsored by the John and Lucy Shackelford Charitable Fund of the Community Foundation for Mississippi. The hour-long programs are held in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.
