Other Information
Great Grief Live! is an intimate public presentation and conversation in which multi-Grammy award nominee and jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon explores the process of healing. Informed by the depths of her own sorrow after the death of her beloved husband Philip, Nnenna engages with the complicated shapeshifter we all know grief to be through word, story, and song.
This intimate public presentation and conversation with Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon is modeled after Great Grief, her podcast about love, loss, and the ultimate shapeshifter, grief.
Accompanied by keyboardist Andrew Berinson, Ms. Freelon will share her story and discuss the process of healing through word and song. Great Grief is produced by Nnenna Freelon and Scalawag, a grassroots Southern media organization committed to building political and social consciousness, in collaboration with OnlyUs Media, a Durham-based, Afrofuturist production company.
