Join the International Museum of Muslim Cultures (IMMC) in welcoming Dr. Joseph Peterson from the University of Southern Mississippi as he shares excerpts from his book “Sacred Rivals: Catholic Missions and the Making of Islam in 19th Century France and Algeria”, Saturday, October 28 at 11am.
The talk will explore religious prejudices against Muslims transformed into racial ones, as well as the ways in which Algerian Muslims adapted, used, and resisted French culture and imperialism. While there, be sure to grab a signed copy of his book, which will be available for purchase after the event. Free refreshments will be provided.
