Capital City Lights, December 3rd from 4-11pm in Downtown Jackson, is a community kickoff of the holiday season in the City With Soul! The night also serves as the launch event of the City of Jackson’s year-long bicentennial celebration.

Events include the Festival of Trees at The Westin Jackson, Nutcracker performances at Thalia Mara Hall, shopping at Downtown storefronts along with two outdoor markets – Magnolia Markets and JXN Flea, classic cars, emergency vehicles set up “touch a truck” style, live music, hot chocolate, caroling, food trucks, marching bands, holiday decor, and of course… lights!

Under the “lights” umbrella this year is the annual “Christmas by Candlelight Tours” of MS Department of Archive & History locations, including the Mississippi State Capitol, Mississippi Governor’s Mansion, the grounds of the Old Capitol Museum, Museum of Mississippi History, and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. The Candlelight tour takes place from 4-8pm. Park and take advantage of the shuttle buses running between sites, or walk or drive between locations on your own schedule.

Vote for your top favorite Best Holiday Window Display and Best Holiday Tree Display from the Holiday Storefront Challenge, hosted by AIA Mississippi, IIDA Delta Regional Chapter, Downtown Jackson Partners, and the Greater Jackson Arts Council. Two winners, one from each category based on your vote, will each receive $1,000 grand prize!
