Spend a day as an archaeologist at the very first Artifact Washing Day at the Two Mississippi Museums on Sunday, November 15, from noon–4 p.m. Discover how to clean authentic artifacts excavated in Mississippi, and view demonstrations of Native American activities including deer hide shaving, stickball, and Atlatl throwing. Take home a pre-packaged activity bag and create your own handmade pottery and beaded jewelry. Staff will also lead guided tours through archaeological exhibits in the Museum of Mississippi History.
This event is free and open to the public of all ages! Enjoy free admission to The Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum from noon–4 p.m. Face masks and social distancing guidelines are required while on site during this event.
