Other Information
Art on Film returns to the Mississippi Museum of Art this week with a screening of Animal Crackers starring The Marx Brothers! Did you know that before Dusti Bongé became a visual artist, she was an actress and traveled with The Marx Brothers? Learn more about Dusti’s life in cinema and the antics she treasured during a conversation with special guest Paul Bongé, grandson of Dusti. Plus, find out about the connection between Dusti and the studio where Animal Crackers was filmed.
Using the medium of film, the Museum explores stories of the artists and art on view in Piercing the Inner Wall: The Art of Dusti Bongé, Call and Response: Betye Saar, and New Symphony of Time which will be viewed outside in The Art Garden and on the Bankplus Green. Curated and introduced by longtime Mississippi film commissioner Ward Emling, each film will include a panel to discuss the film in cinematic, cultural, or historical context.
This program is generously sponsored by the Ergon Foundation and is presented in partnership with The Crossroads Film Society.
*This event will have food trucks and a cash bar available.
