Other Information

This three-month series, held on every third Friday of the month from March-May, will feature screenings outside in The Art Garden and BankPlus Green. Curated and introduced by longtime Mississippi Film commissioner Ward Emling, each film will include a Q+A to discuss the film in cinematic, cultural, or historical context.
As she follows three generations of Gullah women, Julie Dash’s masterpiece Daughters of the Dust, assembles a world of heritage and connection, tradition and myth, place and time, and connects the threads that link us all to the lands we inhabit and the legacies we own, in much the same way Betye Saar combines image and artifact to create evocative and instantly indelible and unforgettable experience.
This program is generously sponsored by the Ergon Foundation and Crossroads Film Society.
Cash bar and food trucks, including Kimyata’s Express Kitchen and Green Ghost Tacos, will be on site!
