People say the blues was born in Mississippi, traveled to Memphis in its youth and grew up in Chicago, but the truth is – the blues never left home. If you’ve never heard the Mississippi blues, you’ve never heard the real thing. The unique Mississippi art form of the blues has long been recognized as the foundation for many of today’s musical styles.
The Mississippi Blues Marathon honors musicians who have made history over the years, as well as those who continue to shape the sound of the blues today. Local Mississippi Blues artists provide the soundtrack to the entire race weekend beginning with the pre-race Expo and continuing through the finish line. In addition to music at the start/finish area, live musicians will be stationed all along the race course, and spectators are welcomed to come enjoy the live music and cheer on the racers!
Racers can choose between a Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K Road Race, 5K Road Race, Marathon Relay Race. The Start/Finish area is located on George Street across from the MS State Capitol. All races will start and finish in the same location on George Street.
