MUSEUM TRAIL

THE MUSEUM TRAIL IS AN APPROXIMATELY 5-MILE MULTI-USE TRAIL CONNECTING THE MISSISSIPPI FARMERS MARKET TO THE MISSISSIPPI AGRICULTURE MUSEUM, WITH ACCESS TO THREE PARKS AND SIX MUSEUMS. THE TRAIL WILL CONNECT DOWNTOWN JACKSON TO THE LEFLEUR’S BLUFF STATE PARK, THE MISSISSIPPI MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE, AND THE MISSISSIPPI CHILDREN’S MUSEUM. 2.5 MILES OF THE TRAIL WILL BECOME JACKSON’S FIRST “RAIL TRAIL” ALONG THE OLD GM&O LINE ON THE EASTERN BORDER OF THE BELHAVEN AND BELHAVEN HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOODS. ONCE COMPLETED, THE TRAIL WILL OFFER MORE ACCESS TO CULTURE AND NATURE THAN TRAIL OF ITS KIND.

THE MUSEUM TRAIL IS A SUCCESS STORY OF COMMUNITY COLLABORATION. ASKED AND ADVOCATED FOR BY CITIZENS, SUPPORTED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES, AND CREATED WITH THE CITY OF JACKSON PAVING THE WAY, WALKERS, RUNNERS, BICYLE RIDERS, ROLLERBLADERS, NATURE LOVERS, AND EXPLORERS OF ALL AGES AND IN ALL PARTS OF THE CITY WILL ENJOY THE PAVED SCENIC TRAIL, WHICH WILL INCLUDE SAFE PASSAGE OVER I-55 FOR NON-MOTORIZED USERS.
